2010 classes - Classes are starting after Easter, book now!    

Melbourne Location: Karen's garden in Pascoe Vale South, in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

Sydney Location: Killara, in the northern suburbs of Sydney.

Cost : $33.00 per person (except the Wall Garden class - which has material costs)

Time: Saturdays and Sundays, between 10am - 12 midday, or between 1.00 - 3.00pm.

Duration : 2 hours, including refreshment time.

Includes : Course notes, refreshments derived from the garden, and a take home packet of easy-to-grow seeds.

Class Size : Minimum 6, Maximum 12 (Some classes may have more - see individual brochures)



Making a Wall Garden - Saturday 17 April

In this class you make your own mini wall garden!

All materials are supplied, with a range of herbs to choose from on the day,

and your finished wall panel has 4 herbs. 

The cost of the class is $66 including all material costs and refreshments.

This class is on Saturday 17th April , from 1pm - 3 pm.

Vegies for Beginners - Saturday 14th November

In 'Vegies for Beginners' we look at what you need to do to get started - whether you are growing in containers or have some soil to till.

We go through the essentials of soil preparation, seed raising, what to grow when (and how much), fertilizing and how to care for your growing vegetables.

This class runs from 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Going Grey - Using Grey Water in The Produce Garden - Sunday 22nd November

This class runs from 1.00pm - 3.00pm.

Keep your garden green with grey water!

In the 'Going Grey' class we discuss the wisdom and practicalities of using this valuable resource in the garden, and especially in the produce garden.

Gunyah Garden has been using mostly grey water for it's water requirements for the last 2 years.

The course notes reflect both the lessons learnt over this time and the latest studies on the subject.

Amongst other things, we look at suitable detergents and shampoos and how to look after your soil so that you avoid possible problems.

Our refreshments are derived from parts of the garden watered entirely on grey water.(Quite safe!)

Permaculture Primer - Sunday 29th November

Permaculture is care of the earth, care of people. It offers a way to embrace nature and have her embrace us.

The Permaculture Primer Class looks at the basics of Permaculture and how to get started, even living in the suburbs.

Herbs for the Kitchen and Well Being - 2009 date TBA

Learn to grow fresh herbs at your back door to enrich your cooking and well-being.

We pick from the garden and taste test 15 herbs easily grown in Melbourne and consider their culinary uses.

Whilst sampling them as herbal teas we discuss their use as simple health remedies.

Herb-based snacks supplied...

This class runs from 1.00pm - 3.00pm.
