A hot start to November has given us some more record-breaking weather and good cause to reconsider our garden design.  Australia's grocery prices have risen at a dramatic rate compared to the rest of the western world.  In Melbourne, as in many parts of Australia, water supplies are limited.

How can we help our gardens adapt in a changing climate?

Household grey water is a much neglected resource, but with some simple practical measures it can make the difference between a desert and an oasis in your garden.

Permaculture, or permanent agriculture, is a design system developed in Australia by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren.  Many of its very practical principles can be applied to a suburban garden, so that conscious choices are made to enable a gardener to work in harmony with their garden. Learn how to produce food throughout the year, in as simple a way as possible.

The last 2 classes for 2009 provide an introduction to these two important issues.

For further reading on these two topics, follow the links above. They are previews of 2 recent magazine articles written by Karen, currently available in newsagents.

This Saturday is the last chance to take the popular Vegies for Beginners class in 2009.

I hope your beans are twining, your tomatoes are setting fruit, and your basil is getting bigger by the day.

All of us at Edible Eden Design wish you a fruitful festive season, and look forward to seeing you next year.
